It was a hot June day in Timisoara, Romania, and Nadia was watching parts of the French Open final, together with her grandmother. Simona Halep won the title and the 4 year old watched intently how the WTA #1 raised the trophy and made millions of Romanians proud.

Later that evening, as she went to sleep, Nadia told her mother:

“I want to be like Simona Haiep. Get me a tennis coach”.

And they did.

Nadia Jar, 4 and a half, ready for her tennis class.

Nadia trained with Adrian Marchevici, a talented tennis coach in her hometown, Timisoara, for the rest of 2018. Although she was a little too young to train one-on-one, he trusted her abilities and determination. Adrian was the first to notice that she is talented and, with a lot of hard work, she could actually become a tennis pro.

On January 3, 2019, Nadia left Romania and immigrated to the US, with her parents. One dear friend took them to Flushing Meadows, so that Nadia can be tested by Nouri Elhajjar.

Nouri leads the Red Ball tennis program at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY and has trained her for 3 years at the home of the US Open.

On July 2019, another dear friened, recommended Nick Brebenel, an exceptional Romanian coach, who took Nadia under his wing and once again declared she is a tennis prodigy.

After 2 more years she moved to Highland Lakes, NJ, with the help of another Romanian family, to pursue her tennis dreams. She is currently training at Flushing Meadows (the Orange Plus program), with her coach Nick, any chance they get, and also with the local coach, Darren Werner.

Nadia Jar is enlisted in the USTA and in 2022 she starts competing in Junior Tournaments.
